HeartCode® BLS

The AHA’s most in-depth Basic Life Support course, built for healthcare professionals — blended online learning plus an in-person skills session.

Course overview

HeartCode BLS is the American Heart Association’s most in-depth Basic Life Support course, designed for the healthcare industry — nurses, physicians, EMS, dental, and clinical support staff. Students complete the adaptive cognitive portion online at their own pace, then attend a hands-on, in-person skills session where a Rescue Partners AHA Instructor verifies competency in high-quality CPR, AED use, bag-mask ventilation, and team-based resuscitation for adults, children, and infants.

Who this course is for

  • Nurses, physicians, EMS, dental, and clinical support staff
  • Healthcare students who need BLS for school or clinical placement
  • Teams with shift schedules that make full classroom days hard
  • Organizations standardizing on AHA blended learning

What students learn

  • In-depth CPR/BLS content completed online via adaptive AHA eLearning
  • High-quality CPR, bag-mask ventilation, and AED skills verified in person
  • Adult, child, and infant resuscitation
  • Team dynamics and high-performance resuscitation concepts

How certification & check-in works

Students complete the online portion first, then check in to the in-person skills session on their phone in under a minute. Once the instructor verifies skills and marks the roster entry "Completed," the student receives their 2-year AHA BLS Provider eCard.

Group & on-site training

Yes — we run HeartCode BLS skills sessions on-site for healthcare teams and can coordinate group online-portion completion.
